บทคัดย่อ
คนหูหนวกในประเทศไทยมีโอกาสในการเข้าถึงข้อมูลต่าง ๆ โดยเฉพาะข้อมูลที่อยู่ในภาษาอื่นนอกเหนือจากภาษาไทยน้อยกว่าคนหูดี เนื่องจากปัญหาการขาดแคลนล่ามภาษามือที่เกิดขึ้นในปัจจุบัน ดังนั้นพวกเราจึงพัฒนา “เว็บแอปพลิเคชันสำหรับแปลภาษาอังกฤษเป็นภาษามือไทย” หรือ “ทีเอชเอสแอลทรานส์” เพื่อเป็นอีกทางเลือกหนึ่งในการแปลข้อความภาษาอังกฤษไปเป็นภาษามือไทย โดยไม่ต้องใช้ล่ามภาษามือ ทีเอชเอสแอลทรานส์คือระบบแปลข้อความภาษาอังกฤษเป็นภาษามือทางการของไทยซึ่งแสดงผลการแปลด้วยแอนิเมชันสามมิติ แอปพลิเคชันตัวนี้จัดการการแปลข้อความภาษาอังกฤษเช่น คำพื้นฐาน วลี และประโยคที่มีโครงสร้างพื้นฐานอันได้แก่ ประโยคที่ประกอบด้วยสกรรมกริยา (transitive sentence) ประโยคที่ประกอบด้วยอกรรมกริยา (intransitive sentence) ประโยคที่มีกริยาหรือไม่มีกริยาก็ได้ (ditransitive sentence) และประโยคที่บ่งบอกถึงสถานที่ (locative sentence) ระบบของแอปพลิเคชันประกอบด้วยสองส่วน คือส่วนที่จัดการเรื่องกฎไวยากรณ์ของภาษาอังกฤษและภาษามือไทย (rule-based system) กับส่วนที่แสดงหน้าการใช้งานและผลการแปล (Unity Client) ผลลัพธ์จากการทดสอบแอปพลิเคชันแสดงให้เห็นว่าท่าภาษามือไทยถูกแสดงเป็นแอนิเมชันได้อย่างลื่นไหล ถึงแม้ว่ายังคงมีปัญหาเกี่ยวกับความถูกต้องของท่าภาษามือไทย ความเร็วของการแสดงท่าภาษามือไทย และการเลือกใช้ท่าภาษามือที่ไม่เหมาะสมกับบริบทของประโยค
Abstract
Deaf people in Thailand have less opportunity to access information than Hearing people, especially in a language other than Thai, due to the lack of sign language interpreters. Therefore, we developed an application called ThSL translator web application (ThSLtrans) as an alternative method to provide a translation of English text to Thai Sign Language (ThSL) without the need for a sign language interpreter. ThSLtrans is a rule-based machine translation system that translates English text to ThSL, the official sign language in Thailand, and displays the translation results as 3D animation. This application provides a translation of English text that contains simple words, phrases, and sentences with a basic structure. The supported basic sentence structures are transitive sentences, intransitive sentences, ditransitive sentences, and locative sentences. The application consists of the rule-based system part and the Unity client part. The evaluation results show that the application was successful at displaying the ThSL animations as one animation sequence, though had a problem with the correctness of the sign gestures, the speed of the animation, and the wrong usage of the ThSL sign for a specific context.
